PS4 Headset

The PS4 Headset is likely to be one of the first accessories you’ll buy once you receive your shiny new Playstation from those lovely people at Sony.

If it follows on from the PS3 headset, the PS4 version is likely to be a wireless headset using bluetooth technology. There may also be a USB headset that uses a corded connection. Some headset users prefer the USB headset as they believe that the bluetooth headset has lag, ie. there is a slight delay between what you see happening on the screen and what you hear in your headset. Even if this were true of the PS3 headset, I’m sure it won’t be an issue when the PS4 headset is released.

PS4 Headset Features

Typical features on the PS4 headset are likely to be high quality audio for gaming, high quality microphone for voice chat (what other type is there?), mute status for when someone wants to disturb your gaming, volume level, battery fuel gauge, charging status.

The headset connection status should be displayed on the PS4 on-screen display. Like the PS3 headset, the PS4 headset should be able to be used as a microphone when docked in the charging cradle – voice output is automatically transferred to the TV in this case. This allows for easy storage of the headset when not in use. Expected other features:

  • Supports High-Fidelity voice input / output
  • Support of voice command function
  • Easy pairing with PS4 Console
  • Charging Cradle for easy charging.
  • Backwards compatible with existing PS3 games
  • Compatible with Bluetooth enabled mobile phones
  • Small, compact, comfortable
